Stroke is a leading cause of adult disability. High blood pressure and diabetes are the most important risk factors. Patients affected by a stroke often present with hemiplegia (paralysis of one side of the body) and are rendered dependant for mobility. In most cases, speech and urinary function are affected. Unfortunately, in the Western approach there is not much hope for stroke affected patients.
Ayurveda provides the support for recovering from this debilitating condition with the help of herbal medications and Panchakarma treatments. The success rate of recovery from disability and improving the quality of life is high when accompanied by effort from the patient.
